It was a pleasure for me to review the manuscript which preceded this publication. Mr. Gupta is a diligent student of the subject and has made a comprehensive study, reviewing the available literature. His presentations are frank, clearly presented, and well documented from the scientific literature.

While the reader may not agree with every aspect of the subject, the concepts presented will certainly challenge a serious-thinking individual. The subject of a vegetarian diet is much more acceptable today than it was some twenty-five to thirty years ago. No matter how presented, the subject does arouse emotions in some individuals.

Mr. Gupta has attempted to present all aspects of the subject in a very candid and open manner. This book should be of value in the library of any school or college. Its discussions, its extensive bibliography, and a fine index will make it a valuable resource item.

May the reader enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed reading the manuscript.
