Look for imperfections – Real
pearls must have many imperfections such as blemishes or asymmetrical shapes.
Whereas, fake pearls are made to have a perfect appearance.
Teeth Test – Since real pearls
have some imperfections, if you rub them against your teeth, you will feel an
inconsistent texture on their outer surface. Fake pearls have a smooth texture.
Touch Test – When you touch a
real pearl, it will be colder to the touch but when it is held in the palm for
a while, it becomes warm. However, fake pearls are already adapted to room
temperature and therefore are not warmed up when kept inside the palm.
