Rabinadranath Tagore (1861-1941) was a poet, philosopher, artist, playwright, composer and novelist who reshaped Bengal’s literature and music. As the author of “Gitanjali”, Tagore became the first non-European and first Indian to have won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913. His poetry when translated was viewed as spiritual and sensitive. He composed and scored India's national anthem- 'Jana gana mana'.
