A long war had been waged between the gods and the asuras. The king of asuras, Mahisasura, won the war and established himself in heaven. To regain their lost turf, all the gods concentrated their power in the form of fire. The flames united into a blazing sphere, which took the shape of the goddess. Durga defeated the armies of the asuras and fought Mahisa, who took many forms to fight her, and finally that of a buffalo.

The above is an introduction to the event that takes place here. Durga, with her multiple arms, glows in the golden complexion, gleaming more in a black attire. The artist clothes her in black to express her anger. She holds attributes of all gods as she attacks Mahisa, who is seen to be emerging from the severed head of the buffalo. For him, the battle seems to have already been lost, with the goddess piercing his chest and her lion gnawing at his leg. The latter has been given human features and a crown, depicting his importance and association with a prime goddess.

If observed separately, the lower half of the canvas depicts violence and blood but the upper half expresses tranquility and benevolence.

This is to inform you that the shipment of my order has arrived in perfect condition. The actual shipment took only less than two weeks, which is quite good seen the circumstances. I waited with my response until now since the Buddha statue was a present that I handed over just recently. The Medicine Buddha was meant for a lady who is active in the healing business and the statue was just the right thing for her. I downloaded the respective mantras and chants so that she can work with the benefits of the spiritual meanings of the statue and the mantras. She is really delighted and immediately fell in love with the beautiful statue. I am most grateful to you for having provided this wonderful work of art. We both have a strong relationship with Buddhism and know to appreciate the valuable spiritual power of this way of thinking. So thank you very much again and I am sure that I will come back again.
