Rama was not merely the King of Ayodhya but he was a savior and friend of mankind. In India, the Ramavatara is the most popular of all the incarnations of Lord Vishnu The Ramayana is the story of Rama's life. Poets have found in its legend subjects for their poems. The sage Budhakaushika wrote Ramaraksha Stotram centuries ago. This long Sanskrit poem is an eulogy to the powers of Lord Rama. This stotram has unique power, which contains the secret of its perennial appeal. It is the firm belief of the sage that reciting this stotram wards off evil and throws a protective ring around the devotee. Ramaraksha acts as an armour or a shield which guards the devotee from all kinds of dangers. Dewaki Pandit, the dulcet-voiced singer recites the stotram in a deeply moving manner. Her- creative talent comes to the fore in the process. She has employed 32 Raagas for these verses. Different shades of emotions are expressed in different Raagas.
