Pair of Surahi

$255

Surahis are earthen pots or matkas used in ancient times for storing water, as this water was said to remove all impurities from the body. As the times changed, many designer forms of pitchers (water vessels) came up, especially during the Mughal era, that were also used for serving food. These traditional water pots have taken a major transformation in the contemporary world, as shown on this page, where it is being used more as an ornamental home decor or flower pot because of its exclusive designs and usage of materials to form it.

Exotic India Art feels ecstatic to provide you a pair of such a kind, maintaining the age old structure of a globular bottom and a long slender neck but with a beauteous twist; the curvy ethnic handles placed gracefully on the sides seem to outline an inverted peacock body with the unique extended brim idealizing the look of a chirag (magical lamp).

Keeping aside its marvellous shape, one of the major eye opener is the rich and flourished peacock carvings; interconnected flowers and vines that run in a finite pattern from top to bottom on a base of matte green color with multiple peacocks dancing in elegant gestures on the globe that rests on a thin circular base from where a small white sparrow coohs, as if appreciating to be a part of this beauty.
