Guler school forms one of the finest schools of Pahari painting. The artists there have succeeded in exploring the mystery and beauty of feminine world. Their compositions are livid with fine line and brilliant colors.

Guler women, gracious and grave, one of India's loveliest idealization, are handled with delicacy and tenderness. The painting portrays a scene at the village well at dawn. The women in fine ornaments and attire are ready to start their day – full of energy and vigor. Their faces are well molded and shaded so judiciously that they possess an almost porcelain delicacy. With pitchers on their heads, them holding on to them, expose their perfect figures and graceful flexions of the limbs.

The painter gives the background a marked share of importance. The trees are luxurious and in full bloom. The wall of the well is neatly built in concrete. The huts in the distance are simple with slanting roofs. The artist takes a very distant perspective and the entire village can be dimly seen.

The colors used in the protagonist are brilliant and bright; whereas the background is in subdued, toned down colors.
