Ganesha is the first deity to be worshipped in ceremonies as he is the remover of obstacles. Hence, his icon is a popular theme in nearly all forms of art. As with any of the arts and craft, the basis for success in batik is also an aptitude for color and design, plus talent and skill.

A frame for this picture is formed by two lamps hanging on either side of the image. Another effective aspect is the pale nimbus around the head of Ganesha. This black-bodied Ganesha wears a white lower garment, making for an interesting contrast. True to iconic representations, one of his tusks is broken. He holds a lotus and an elephant goad in the upper two hands. The lower right hand is in a gesture of blessing and the left one holds a bowl of modakas. The trunk of the heavily bejeweled Ganesha is hanging straight, turning towards the right at its end. The end of the short trunk is coiled seemingly balancing a modak. He is seated cross-legged but the feet are neither human nor do they absolutely resemble those of an elephant.

The black of Ganesha's bosy almost blends into the dark brown base. The pale-colored halo highlights the face though. The white dhoti with crushed lines stands out as very attractive.
