Kakubha ragini, wife of a raga is tortured by separation. Wearing a yellow garment she goes to the forest, carrying a vina and reciting his beauty. She is longing for love and, weeping, while walking through the woods. The peacock, a symbol of lonely desire, tries to intercept her, perhaps to share her woes, but all in vain. The tree too spreads its branches of white flowers to take her in its fold and console her.
Her form is well-developed and her body is bedecked for love in the best of jewels. With hands and feet colored in henna, she wears a graceful attire. Her face is like a moon and her sidelong glances have infinite variety. Ragini Kakubha is tall and slender, has a delicate sweet face and a tranquil demeanor despite her intense feelings. The creeper twining the tree is a representation of love in separation and Kakubha is praying for the return of her lover.
