The platform on which the Camphor wood Medicine Buddha statue is placed is adorned with Buddhist motifs of royalty and virility- horses and couchant lions and beautiful floral patterns. On the platform, two Buddhist monks with reverence spread all over their faces are standing, with fly-whisks and alms bowls in their hands. Attached to their halos, the artist has carved composite figures of dragons and lotuses which blossom into the thrones for the Pancha Buddha on the aureole. In the center of the arched aura is Bodhisattva Vairochana and under him, one can observe a Chhepu (Buddhist counterpart of the Hindu Kirtimukha or face of glory) framing the wooden Medicine Buddha statue.

Encircled by these elements, Bhaisajyaguru is sitting on a bloomed lotus with an alms bowl in his hand which contains fruit from a myrobalan plum plant that serves as a purgative cleansing the body of pollutants. In his right hand is the stem of the same herb. Medicine Buddha’s features in this Camphor wood statue include curls delineated like small bumps all over his head. An Urna on his forehead, elongated earlobes, and monastic robes whose folds are tastefully carved in this Bhaisajyaguru statue. The celestial light emanating from his body is highlighted by the embellished aureole behind his head and body. Encompassing the energies of Medicine Buddha, this fragrant Camphor wood statue will purify your body and mind and prepare you for your journey to Enlightenment.
