This Deepalakshmi, made in brass, portrays a divine image of a maiden holding a leaf-shaped lamp. Her image is associated with prosperity and growth hence she is compared with the sacred image of Goddess Lakshmi.  Deepalakshmi stands gracefully on a lotus podium beneath an ornate kirtimukha (celestial face) throne, flanked by two yalis (mythical lion-like creatures) at the base. This intricate sculpture symbolizes auspiciousness, light, and prosperity in Hinduism. Deepalakshmis have historical significance as they were traditionally used in temples and homes to hold oil lamps during ceremonies and festivals, signifying the dispelling of darkness and the illumination of one's life with spiritual and material prosperity.

An Emblem of Divine Radiance and Auspiciousness

This exquisite brass statue embodies the essence of Deepalakshmi, a divine figure revered for bringing light, prosperity, and good fortune. Handcrafted with meticulous artistry in India, this piece is more than just a decorative item; it is a conduit for blessings and a symbol of auspicious beginnings. The goddess is depicted holding a lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and ignorance, and the illumination of wisdom and joy. The ornate Prabhawali, a decorative arch surrounding the deity, adds a layer of grandeur and spiritual significance. Inspired by traditional temple architecture and ancient motifs, the Prabhawali is adorned with intricate scrollwork, floral patterns, and symbolic creatures. The presence of peacocks, often associated with divine beauty and knowledge in Indian mythology, perched on the goddess's shoulders, further enhances the spiritual aura of the piece. The dynamic interplay of dark patinated brass and gleaming gold accents creates a stunning visual depth, reflecting the duality of existence – the interplay of light and shadow, material and spiritual.

A Testament to Indian Craftsmanship

Each element of this statue, from the serene expression of Deepalakshmi to the elaborate details of the Prabhawali, is a testament to the skill and dedication of Indian artisans. The choice of brass as the material is deeply rooted in tradition, known for its durability and ability to hold intricate carvings. The process of its creation likely involves centuries-old techniques passed down through generations, ensuring that each statue possesses a unique character and soul. The subtle variations in the patination and finishing contribute to the individual charm of every piece, making it a truly one-of-a-kind work of art. This statue is not merely an object but a legacy, a tangible connection to the rich cultural heritage of India.

Invoking Blessings and Prosperity

The worship of Deepalakshmi is integral to many Indian festivals, most notably Diwali, the festival of lights. Lighting lamps in her honor is believed to invite wealth, happiness, and well-being into the home. This statue serves as a focal point for such devotion, offering a beautiful and sacred representation of the goddess. Whether placed in a home altar, a meditation space, or as a statement piece in a living area, it radiates a powerful presence. The robust base, also intricately designed, ensures stability and allows the divine light to emanate outwards. This piece is an ideal gift for housewarmings, weddings, or any occasion where one wishes to bestow blessings of prosperity and illuminate the path forward for loved ones. It is a reminder that even in challenging times, light and hope can always be found.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
