This small four-armed Lord Ganapati copper statue is a wonderful depiction of the Lord of Wisdom. It is a poignant observation that Lord Ganesha is the patron of Buddhi, or intelligence, and directs his devotees to the path of wisdom. Lord Ganesha appears in his Chaturbhuj (four-armed) form. He carries an Ankusha or Goad and a Pasha or Lasso in his two upper hands, a modak in his lower hand, and his other hand in a Varada position.  He sits on a Lotus podium, adorned with a Lotus crown and halo. The statue's brown lacquer finish makes it more appealing. It reminds us that Lord Ganesha is always watching over us and safeguarding us with four hands.

The Remover of Obstacles

This exquisite copper statue depicts Lord Ganapati, also known as Ganesha, one of the most beloved and widely worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. Revered as the God of beginnings, wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune, Ganapati is invoked at the start of new ventures, journeys, and ceremonies to ensure success and remove obstacles. His presence in a home or workspace is believed to bring auspiciousness and positive energy. The captivating form of Ganapati, instantly recognizable by his elephant head, embodies the harmony of strength and gentleness. He is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and various tales surround the origin of his unique appearance. One popular legend recounts how Parvati created Ganesha from sandalwood paste to guard her door, and Shiva, unaware of their familial connection, severed his head in a fit of anger. Upon realizing his mistake and at Parvati's insistence, Shiva replaced the head with that of the first creature he encountered – an elephant.

Symbolism and Iconography

This particular rendering of Ganapati showcases him with four arms, each holding symbolic objects that reveal his divine attributes. The items held in his hands may vary in different depictions, but they frequently include a modak (sweet dumpling), representing the sweetness of spiritual realization; an axe, to cut away attachments and worldly desires; a noose, to capture and control obstacles; and a lotus, symbolizing purity and enlightenment. His large belly is said to contain the universe, and his single tusk represents the ability to overcome dualities and achieve liberation. At the base of the statue is his vahana, the mouse, represents the ego and our earthly desires. His posture, typically seated or standing, often exudes a sense of serenity and ease, conveying his unwavering nature.

Crafted in Copper

Measuring at just 2.7 x 2.0 x 1.5 inches, this finely crafted statue is cast in copper. Copper, known for its warm, reddish-brown hue, has been used for centuries in the creation of sacred objects and ritual tools. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, copper is believed to possess spiritual and healing properties. This beautiful statue would be a great addition to any house for prayer.
