It is played by hitting the broader side of discs straight on each other making a constant sound in required intervals.

The Sacred Sound of Khartal

Immerse yourself in the rich sonic tapestry of spiritual traditions with these exquisite small hand cymbals, known as Khartal. Crafted from resonant bronze, these instruments are more than just musical tools; they are conduits to ancient melodies and sacred rituals. The Khartal has been a cherished companion in devotional practices across India for centuries, its bright, clear tones cutting through the air, marking the rhythm of chants and prayers.

Echoes of Devotion

The history of the Khartal is intertwined with the Bhakti movement, a spiritual renaissance that emphasized personal devotion and ecstatic worship. These cymbals were, and still are, played by mendicants, saints, and devotees, their rhythmic clashing serving to awaken the spirit and create an atmosphere of divine connection. Imagine the sound of the Khartal echoing in ancient temples, accompanying the heartfelt kirtans and bhajans, guiding participants towards a state of spiritual bliss. Their simplicity belies their profound impact, a testament to the power of sound to elevate the soul.

Crafted for Clarity and Resonance

Each of these small cymbals is meticulously fashioned from high-quality bronze, a metal prized for its inherent tonal purity and longevity. The resulting sound is crisp, bright, and sustains beautifully, providing a vibrant rhythmic foundation. The two cymbals, held by a sturdy red cord, are perfectly balanced to produce a clear, resonant clash when struck together. Their compact size makes them comfortable to hold and play for extended periods, allowing for an unbroken flow of devotional energy. Whether you are a practitioner of Indian classical music, a devotee seeking to enhance your puja or kirtan, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of handcrafted musical instruments, these Khartal cymbals offer an authentic and evocative sound.

A Touch of the Divine

Beyond their musicality, the Khartal are often seen as symbols of celestial harmony. In various traditions, the clashing of cymbals can represent the merging of opposing forces, the creation of the universe from primordial sound, or the awakening of consciousness. Their presence in a home or place of worship can infuse the space with positive vibrations and a sense of sacredness. These small bronze cymbals are not just an instrument; they are an invitation to connect with a lineage of spiritual sound and to bring a touch of the divine into your everyday life.
