In this sculpture, Lord Vraha is depicted with Lakshmi who is Vishnu’s wife and the goddess of wealth, seated on Varaha’s lap. Varaha is carrying two objects that Vishnu often carries i.e., a conch and a discus. Swamimalai Kumbakonam Bronze is considered to be authentic bronze which is used to create idols out of the five metals known as Panchaloha. For home temple prayers, Panchaloha is the recommended material for spiritual or religious idols.

It is said that worshipping Lord Varaha bestows upon the devotee all forms of bliss, including health, joy, success, and wealth. So, this sculpture will be a perfect fit for the home temple.

The Divine Boar and the Goddess of Fortune

This exquisite Panchaloha bronze statue depicts Lord Varaha, the boar avatar of Lord Vishnu, in a moment of divine grace and power, accompanied by the radiant Goddess Lakshmi. Panchaloha, a sacred alloy of five metals, is believed to possess auspicious properties, making this statue not just an artistic masterpiece but also an object of deep spiritual significance. The intricate detailing and the rich patina of the bronze evoke a sense of timeless reverence, bringing the divine presence into your sacred space. In Hindu mythology, Lord Varaha's most famous exploit was to rescue the Earth, personified as the goddess Bhudevi, from the depths of the cosmic ocean, where she had been dragged by the demon Hiranyaksha. Vishnu assumed the form of a colossal boar, with immense strength and determination, to plunge into the abyss and retrieve the Earth. This act of divine intervention saved the world from destruction and re-established cosmic order. Here, Lord Varaha is shown seated majestically, his boar-like visage radiating wisdom and strength. He holds the discus (Chakra) in one hand, symbolizing his cosmic authority, and his other hand is raised in a gesture of blessing or assurance. ––––––––––––––––––––

The Presence of Lakshmi: Prosperity and Benevolence

Seated gracefully beside Lord Varaha is Goddess Lakshmi, the divine consort of Lord Vishnu and the goddess of wealth, fortune, prosperity, and auspiciousness. Her presence signifies the abundance and blessings that Lord Varaha's intervention brought to the world. The union of Varaha and Lakshmi embodies the principle that divine protection and cosmic order are intrinsically linked with material and spiritual prosperity. This sculpture captures their divine harmony, with Lakshmi exuding a serene beauty and grace. Her posture is one of gentle repose, yet her gaze is filled with divine awareness and compassion. She symbolizes not just material wealth but also spiritual abundance, good fortune, and the blossoming of life. This impressive statue is a testament to the skill of traditional Indian bronze casters. The Panchaloha composition, revered for its purity and durability, allows for the creation of incredibly detailed and enduring sculptures. Each element, from the ornate archway framing the divine couple to the finely sculpted garments and divine attributes, speaks of meticulous craftsmanship and a deep understanding of iconography. The rich, antique finish of the bronze adds to its aesthetic appeal, giving it an aura of antiquity and sacredness. Placing this statue in your home or temple is an invitation to invoke the divine blessings of Lord Varaha and Goddess Lakshmi, promoting harmony, prosperity, and spiritual well-being.
