The most charming and famous of all among the gopis for his
child-like naughtiness, sweet voice, divine aura and awe-struck personality,
lord Krishna is worshipped all over, accredited as a son, brother, husband,
friend, helper, defeater of evils, god and every role that a person can
possess. The teak wooden carving of Krishna statue enhances the innate beauty
and cosmic essence of the lord in a captivating manner.
The way he is seated on that large rock, carved with absolute perfection of cuts and curves, forms a view of elegance that already prevails in Krishna’s personality. The slight tilted posture of the torso and head reveals the sculptor’s skills of perfection while carving it with accurate measures.
Krishna is garbed in a dhoti, which the sculptor has designed like a natural flow of a silk fabric, decorated with a thin mesh border and a long stole running across his shoulders, that falls at an ease through his arms and has a similar border carved at the edges. The royalty and divinity is also perceived by the beautiful floral embellishments all over his body and a densely carved long flower garland that falls on one side because of his tilted posture. This wooden sculpture depicts Krishna performing his popular and most loved activity of playing the melodious tunes from his flute. Both the hands are busy holding the instrument near his mouth, that gently smiling lips and sparkling eyes are indicative of the euphonious sounds arousing from his flute.
Zoom in to marvellous carvings of Krishna’s long crown and the floral dual layered aureole, decorated with multiple styled designs, an ethnic carved small layer in the front and a dome shaped top that supports the beautiful peacock feather. This wooden Krishna statue is sculpted by expert carvers from South India and the glossy touch of teak makes it more worthy and a pleasure to the eyes.
