36" Large Wooden Sitting Bhagawan Brahma with Kirtimukha

$1050
Includes any tariffs and taxes

On a gigantic lotus bloom, sits the grave Lord Brahma. Limbs gathered in lalitasana. Of the four hands (He is chaturbhujadhari), the anterior hands are in the aashirvada va abhaya mudra, while in the posterior hands are a manuscript and a rosary. His three faces each bear a solemn composure.

Lord Brahma is the presiding deity over srshti or creative projection. With His more than one head, He keeps watch over each of the cardinal directions. The murti of Brahma that you see on this page is a wood-carved composition. It is a one-of-a-kind sculpture that borrows heavily from the temple iconography predominant in ancient South India.

The most telling feature of the same is the ornate Kirtimukham, located at the zenith of the archway above Brahma’s three heads. The archway itself originates as pillars on either side of His lotus-shaped throne and is made of lotus petals layered one against the other.

The Creator's Tranquil Embrace

This magnificent wooden carving depicts Bhagawan Brahma, the revered creator god in Hinduism, in a posture of serene contemplation. Standing at an impressive 36 inches tall, this sculpture is a testament to exquisite craftsmanship, with every detail meticulously rendered from a single piece of wood. Brahma, known for his four faces that symbolize the four Vedas and the four directions, is portrayed here with a calm and benevolent expression. His multiple heads gaze outwards, suggesting his omnipresence and his continuous watch over the universe he brought into being. The deity is seated upon a lotus, a sacred flower that represents purity, rebirth, and spiritual awakening. This iconic imagery of Brahma resting on a lotus further emphasizes his divine nature and his role as the source of all creation, emerging from the primordial waters. The intricate carvings that frame the deity, including the striking Kirtimukha (a guardian face often depicted with fierce yet protective features) at the apex, add a layer of profound symbolism and artistic grandeur. The Kirtimukha is believed to ward off evil and protect the space it inhabits, enhancing the spiritual aura of the artwork.

A Divine Presence for Your Sacred Space

The presence of Bhagawan Brahma is often associated with knowledge, wisdom, and the fundamental principles of existence. In Hindu mythology, Brahma is credited with the creation of the universe, the four social classes (varnas), and the invention of the Sanskrit language. His ability to create and destroy, to bring forth new life and order, makes him a central figure in the cosmic cycle. This sculpture, with its imposing size and detailed artistry, serves not only as a decorative piece but also as a focal point for meditation and spiritual reflection. The rich texture and warm tones of the wood lend an earthy, grounded feel to this divine representation, making it a perfect addition to any home temple, meditation room, or any space where a sense of peace and reverence is desired. The fine detailing on his ornaments, the drape of his garments, and the serene lines of his faces are a testament to the skill of the artisans who brought this divine form to life. This large wooden carving of Bhagawan Brahma is more than just an art object; it is an invitation to connect with the divine principle of creation that underlies all existence.
