A Sarasvati sculpture of unequalled beauty and life. Under a canopy of luxuriant green stands the wife of Brahma. She is little more than a wisp, the fairest of the Hindu Devi pantheon. Her long, slender limbs - not unlike the shape of the Indian classical musical instrument She holds in Her hands - are clad in silk of the same colour.

The gossamer beauty of Sarasvati has been captured perfectly in this wood-carved iconography. It draws influence from the temple wall architecture of South India. As such, the deeply expressive eyes, the tall crown above Her jewel-black hair, and Her attire and adornment are all faithful to tradition in terms of style.

The canopy of green above Sarasvati’s crowned head is interspersed with the buds of flowers the colour of fire. These add a pop of colour to the predominantly pastel palette. On the lotus pedestal, underneath a fair foot of the Devi, is Her vahana, the colourfully plumaged peacock.

Embrace the Divine Harmony of Saraswati

Invite the essence of knowledge, music, and art into your home with this magnificent wooden sculpture of Goddess Saraswati. Standing tall and graceful, this piece is a testament to the rich artistic heritage of South India, meticulously carved from wood to capture the divine aura of the goddess. The vibrant, aged patination adds a layer of history and depth, suggesting a lineage of devotion and craftsmanship passed down through generations. The sculpture depicts Goddess Saraswati in her classic form, holding the veena, a stringed instrument central to Indian classical music. Her posture is dynamic and elegant, conveying a sense of divine movement and creative flow. Her gaze is serene, yet full of wisdom, inviting contemplation and spiritual connection. The intricate details of her attire, the ornaments adorning her, and the stylized rendering of her headdress showcase the artisan's skill and dedication.

A Symphony of Symbolism

Goddess Saraswati, revered in Hinduism, is the embodiment of all forms of knowledge, wisdom, learning, speech, music, and artistic pursuits. She is often depicted with four arms, each holding a symbol of her divine attributes: the veena representing music and art, a rosary representing spiritual meditation, and a book representing knowledge. In this sculpture, while some attributes are artfully implied, the prominent veena speaks volumes of her association with creative expression. The backdrop of the sculpture is a riot of nature's beauty, with stylized foliage and fruits forming an arch around the goddess. This organic framing symbolizes the all-encompassing nature of her blessings, nurturing creativity and intellect just as nature nurtures life. Beside her, a peacock stands, a creature often associated with Saraswati, representing beauty, grace, and the ability to discern the essential from the non-essential. The peacock's presence further enhances the aesthetic appeal and symbolic depth of the artwork. ––––––––––––––––––––

Whether placed in a sacred space, a study, or a living area, this sculpture is sure to become a focal point, radiating peace, creativity, and divine grace. Its substantial size makes it ideal for creating a statement of devotion and artistic appreciation.
