Ilaiya Perumal (the Ageless Vishnu) popularly known as Ramanujan or Ramanujacharya was a 12th century CE Indian philosopher and theologian whose devotion to Lord Vishnu drove him into a strive with a powerful king of South India but also helped him come up with a new school of thought within the Vedanta tradition known as Vishishta- Advaita or qualified non-dualism.

Ramanujan believed that the aatman and parmatman were like the human body and soul. Virtually there is no difference between the two, yet the soul serves the body. This is how the aatman was to serve the Supreme lord. Moksha according to him could be achieved through bhakti (a personal devotion). This brass small statue of Swami Ramanujan shows the great teacher seated with his hands folded in reverence of lord Vishnu, carrying a flag with a Vaishnava symbol drawn on it.

A Beacon of Devotion: The Auspicious Statue of Swami Ramanuja

This exquisitely crafted brass statue captures the serene and inspiring form of Swami Ramanuja, a seminal philosopher and theologian in the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism. Handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, this small yet powerful representation embodies the profound teachings and spiritual legacy of this revered saint. The warm, golden hue of the brass lends an aura of sanctity and timelessness to the piece, making it a focal point for any devotional space.

Embodiment of Wisdom and Grace

Swami Ramanuja, a key figure in the philosophical landscape of India, lived from the 11th to 12th centuries. He is renowned for his commentaries on the Brahma Sutras and his advocacy of Vishishtadvaita Vedanta, a school of thought that emphasizes the qualified oneness of God, the individual soul, and the material world. His teachings have deeply influenced millions, promoting devotion to Vishnu and advocating for the accessibility of spiritual knowledge to all, regardless of caste or creed. This statue, with its serene expression and clasped hands in a gesture of prayer and devotion (Anjali Mudra), invites contemplation and connection to these timeless principles. The subtle smile suggests an inner peace and profound understanding, reflecting Ramanuja’s enlightened state.

Symbolism and Cultural Significance

The posture of the statue, seated in a meditative pose with a symbolic tablet held aloft, further enhances its spiritual narrative. The tablet, often depicted with the sacred syllable "Om" or other auspicious symbols, represents the dissemination of divine knowledge. In Hindu traditions, the "Om" symbol is considered the primordial sound, the essence of the universe. Ramanuja's tireless efforts to spread the philosophy of Bhakti (devotion) and his advocacy for the worship of Vishnu are echoed in this depiction. He is often associated with the concept of *Saranagati*, or complete surrender to the divine, a principle he championed through his extensive writings and discipleship. This statue serves as a constant reminder of the path of devotion and the pursuit of spiritual liberation.

A Cherished Adornment for Your Sacred Space

This charming brass idol is perfectly sized to grace a home altar, study desk, or any corner where you seek a touch of spiritual tranquility. Its compact dimensions make it versatile for placement, while its intricate craftsmanship ensures it will be a cherished item for years to come.
