The First Incarnation

This exquisite brass statue depicts Matsya, the first avatar of Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe in Hindu cosmology. In this incarnation, Vishnu takes the form of a fish to save humanity and the sacred scriptures from a great deluge. The intricate detailing of the statue beautifully captures the essence of this divine being. From the ornate headgear to the meticulously rendered scales transitioning into a human form, every element is crafted with devotion and skill. The statue stands as a potent reminder of Vishnu's unwavering commitment to protecting dharma and ensuring the continuation of cosmic order.

A Tale of Salvation

The story of Matsya is a compelling narrative of divine intervention and cosmic preservation. According to the Puranas, a devastating flood threatened to engulf the entire world. Manu, the progenitor of mankind, was performing his ablutions when a small fish swam into his hands. The fish pleaded with Manu to save it, promising to reciprocate the act of kindness in the future. Manu placed the fish in a jar, where it rapidly grew in size. Eventually, he had to release it into the ocean. The fish revealed itself to be Lord Vishnu in the form of Matsya and warned Manu of the impending deluge. He instructed Manu to build a large boat and gather seeds of all plants, specimens of all creatures, and the seven sages. When the flood arrived, Matsya guided the boat through the tumultuous waters, using the serpent Vasuki as a rope tied to his horn. He navigated the boat until the waters receded, thus saving Manu, the seeds of life, and the sages, allowing creation to continue anew. Furthermore, Matsya retrieved the sacred Vedas, which had been stolen by the demon Hayagriva during the cataclysm. By vanquishing the demon and restoring the scriptures, Matsya ensured the continuity of knowledge and spiritual wisdom for the new cycle of creation. This act solidifies Matsya's role not only as a savior from physical destruction but also as a guardian of spiritual truth.

Crafted with Devotion

The radiant golden hue of this brass statue emanates a sense of sanctity and purity. The craftsmanship reflects the dedication and reverence inherent in the creation of sacred objects. The statue's presence invokes a feeling of peace and protection, serving as a focal point for devotion and a reminder of the divine grace that safeguards the world.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
