The Serene Mahayogi: A Divine Embodiment of Tranquility

This exquisite brass statue captures the essence of Mahayogi Shiva, the great ascetic and cosmic dancer, in the benevolent Ashirwad Mudra, the gesture of blessing. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this handmade idol is a testament to the rich artistic heritage of India, imbued with spiritual significance and aesthetic beauty. The lustrous brass, known for its durability and ability to capture intricate forms, is meticulously shaped to bring forth the serene countenance of Lord Shiva, a figure revered across the globe for his paradoxical nature – the destroyer and the preserver, the ascetic and the householder. ––––––––––––––––––

Symbolism and Sacred Iconography

The Ashirwad Mudra, with the right hand raised in a gesture of offering grace and protection, signifies abundance, well-being, and the removal of obstacles. This pose invites a sense of peace and reassurance, making the idol a focal point for contemplation and devotion. Lord Shiva's iconic trident, the Trishul, held in his left hand, represents the three gunas (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas), the three states of consciousness (waking, dreaming, and deep sleep), and the past, present, and future. The coiled serpent, the Kundalini, adorning his neck, symbolizes spiritual energy and the awakening of consciousness, a core concept in yogic philosophy. The crescent moon on his forehead signifies his control over the mind, while the third eye, often depicted as closed in this serene form, represents his profound wisdom and ability to perceive beyond the mundane. ––––––––––––––––––

Artistry and Adornment

This Mahayogi Shiva is not merely a representation but a work of art. The statue is further enhanced with intricate inlay work, a technique that adds depth and vibrancy. The striking turquoise and red gemstones, interspersed with small, multi-colored beads, adorn his attire, creating a visual spectacle that complements the divine aura of the deity. The placement of these colorful elements evokes the vibrancy of life and the cosmic play of creation and destruction. The robust base features a sculpted motif, possibly a lion or a tiger, representing strength and dominion, further grounding the divine presence. The skilled artisans have poured their devotion and expertise into every curve and embellishment, transforming brass into a vessel of sacred energy and artistic brilliance. This idol serves as a powerful reminder of the spiritual journey, the pursuit of inner peace, and the transformative power of divine grace. It is an ideal centerpiece for any altar, meditation room, or living space, bringing an aura of sanctity and aesthetic charm.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
