This brass lamp with wicks and hanging bells is a Samai Villaku. It can also be identified as a Mayil Vilakku or peacock lamp. The lamp is blessed with a Prabhai, or central image of a peacock, often associated with a wealth of prosperity. The most prominent part of the lamp is the lacquered finish peacock motif, based on a stand with bells and a base of five leaf-shaped lamps. The base also hosts a small Kalash under the shade surrounded by the lamps. The Kalash is a symbol of abundance. In full view, this lamp is a medium of bringing wealth, growth, and abundance when lit with full devotion.

A Divine Radiance: The Brass Peacock Lamp

Elevate your spiritual space with the magnificent Brass Peacock Lamp, a masterpiece of Indian craftsmanship. This exquisite piece, meticulously handcrafted from fine brass, embodies grace, beauty, and divine blessings. The peacock, a creature of unparalleled splendor, stands proudly at the apex, its intricately detailed feathers fanned out in a display of regal magnificence. In Hindu mythology, the peacock is deeply revered, often associated with Lord Krishna, who is depicted adorning his crown with a peacock feather. It also symbolizes immortality, rebirth, and the sun, representing auspiciousness and good fortune.

The Symphony of Light and Sound

This lamp is more than just an aesthetic marvel; it's an immersive sensory experience. Suspended from a beautifully adorned platform are several small, resonant brass bells. These bells, when gently swayed, create a melodious tinkling sound, invoking a sense of peace and serenity. The gentle chime is reminiscent of temple bells, signaling prayers and awakening the divine presence. Around the base of the lamp, several small diyas are thoughtfully placed. These traditional oil lamps, when lit, cast a warm, flickering glow, creating an ambiance of devotion and tranquility. The interplay of light from the diyas and the subtle shimmer of the brass lends an ethereal quality to your surroundings.

A Legacy of Artisan Skill

Each Brass Peacock Lamp is a testament to the enduring legacy of Indian artisans. The dedication to detail, from the delicate scales on the peacock's body to the fine carvings on the base and the perfectly formed bells, speaks volumes about the skill and passion poured into its creation. This lamp is not merely an object; it is a piece of art that carries the stories and traditions of India within its metallic form. It is perfect for adorning your puja room, living area, or any space where you seek to invite blessings, beauty, and a touch of the divine. Bringing this handcrafted masterpiece into your home is an invitation to embrace tradition, art, and spirituality in a truly unique and captivating way.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
