A Symbol of Wholeness

This remarkable sculpture embodies the divine union, the perfect synthesis of masculine and feminine energies, of Shiva and Shakti. It is a potent symbol of the reconciliation of opposites, reminding us of the inherent wholeness that resides within each of us. The figure, crafted in radiant brass, is a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of all things, the indivisible nature of existence. The intricate details showcase the artisan's mastery and devotion. The textures and ornamentation, rendered with precision, convey the richness and depth of this profound concept. Displaying this piece in your home or sacred space serves as a constant reminder of the path to inner harmony and the realization of one's complete potential.

The Myth Behind the Form

The concept of Shiva and Shakti as inseparable forces is deeply rooted in Hindu philosophy. Shiva, the embodiment of consciousness and stillness, is often depicted as the ascetic yogi. Shakti, on the other hand, represents dynamic energy, power, and creative force. Without Shakti, Shiva is inert; without Shiva, Shakti is directionless. Their union is essential for creation and sustenance of the universe. The emergence of this unified form is narrated in various Puranic stories. One such tale speaks of how the world's sages revered Shakti. However, Shiva remained aloof and detached. To rectify this, Shakti incarnated as Sati, the daughter of Daksha, and through intense devotion, won Shiva's heart. Daksha, however, disapproved and insulted Shiva, leading to Sati's self-immolation. Shiva was devastated and withdrew from the world. To bring balance back, Shakti reincarnated as Parvati, undertook severe penance, and again won Shiva. This embodiment demonstrates the essential nature of both energies.

The Dance of Consciousness and Energy

The deity stands gracefully, embodying a perfect balance. One side, representing Shiva, is adorned with traditional male attributes. The other half mirrors the feminine essence of Shakti. The meticulous craftsmanship captures the fluidity and power inherent in this androgynous representation, inviting contemplation on the nature of duality and non-duality. The brass material is treated to bring out the detail and texture of ornamentation. This is a celebration of the power of the tantric union. It encourages us to move toward integration of opposing forces. It calls upon us to strive for wholeness in our own lives.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
