A Beacon of Compassion

This exquisitely crafted brass sculpture presents a vision of serene strength and compassionate action. The figure sits in the lalitasana pose, the "royal ease" posture of relaxed alertness, indicating readiness to spring into action. The right hand extends in the varada mudra, the gesture of giving, a symbol of boundless generosity and the granting of wishes. The left hand holds a blue lotus (utpala), symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening. Each detail, from the intricate mosaic-like patterns adorning her garments to the gentle curve of her smile, speaks of profound artistic skill and devotion. The statue has a pedestal for support that seems to have wooden ridges along the sides.

Tara: The Embodiment of Active Compassion

Tara, whose name translates to "star," is revered as a Bodhisattva of compassion, an enlightened being who has postponed their own nirvana to help others achieve liberation. She represents the feminine principle of wisdom and active compassion in Tibetan Buddhism. The story of Tara is deeply rooted in the vow she made long ago, in a previous life, as a princess. Witnessing the suffering of others, she resolved to attain enlightenment not as a man, which was considered more traditional, but as a woman, vowing to remain in female form in all her future lives to help all beings across the ocean of samsara (cyclic existence). She is often referred to as the "Mother of all Buddhas," signifying her crucial role in guiding others towards enlightenment. Green Tara, in particular, is associated with swift assistance, protection from fear, and overcoming obstacles. Her green color represents her vitality and her readiness to act. It is believed that meditating on Tara can bring peace, protection, and the fulfillment of wishes.

Artisanal Craftsmanship

This sculpture is more than just a decorative piece; it is a testament to the enduring tradition of brass craftsmanship. The statue is made from high-quality brass, ensuring its longevity and durability. The mosaic-like adornments on the arms, torso and thighs add a unique dimension, highlighting the statue’s exquisite detail and craftsmanship. The sculpture is crafted with precision and care by skilled artisans who have inherited their techniques from generations of masters. This results in a piece that is not only beautiful but also imbued with cultural significance and spiritual energy. This statue is perfect for display in a home, meditation space, or office. It serves as a powerful reminder of compassion, wisdom, and the potential for enlightenment within us all. It's an invitation to embody these qualities in our own lives and contribute to a more compassionate world.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
