Religious legends from India are fascinating and unusual in nature for anyone who reads them for the first time. One such legend belongs to the son of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, Ayappa, born to fulfill a boon received by demon Mahishasur’s sister Mahishi.
The demoness received a boon from Lord Brahma which required her slayer to be the child of the Preserver and the Destroyer. Out of a union of the Mohini incarnation of Vishnu and Shiva, lord Ayappan was born.
