A three-legged chowki made of pure brass. Designed to support a seated or a standing figure of your favourite devi-devata, like a plinth in traditional iconography. Alternatively, a chowki such as this may be used as a pooja stool for the lady of the house or a pujari at times of ritual worship.

The pure brass medium lends the pooja chowki the gracious colour of gold. The intricate carvings on its surface are its unique selling point. An eight-petalled lotus at the centre of a range of concentric circles. The spaces between these concentric circles are filled in with intricate engravings that are best zoomed in on. This style of carving borrows from the nakashi art of Siddipet, Nirmal, and Jagtial (districts of Telangana).

The legs of the chowki are identical to each other. They feature a highly stylised silhouette that is sure to stand out in your pooja room decor.

The Sacred Bloom: A Brass Chowki of Divine Grace

This exquisite brass chowki, a circular platform of elevated artistry, serves as a potent symbol of divinity and a practical vessel for sacred rituals. Its surface is a testament to skilled craftsmanship, intricately carved with a mesmerizing lotus motif at its heart. The lotus, a universal emblem of purity, enlightenment, and divine beauty, blooms with captivating detail. Its petals, fanned out gracefully, are rendered with delicate lines that suggest the gentle unfurling of a celestial flower. This sacred bloom is encircled by concentric bands of traditional patterns, each layer a narrative of auspiciousness and spiritual depth. These patterns, ranging from small circular motifs to stylized floral elements and delicate wave-like designs, are not mere ornamentation but are imbued with cultural significance, often representing cosmic order, fertility, and spiritual journeys.

A Legacy of Worship and Symbolism

In Indian traditions, the lotus holds a place of profound reverence. It is the seat of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and also associated with Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and arts. Lord Vishnu is often depicted holding a lotus, signifying his cosmic power and connection to the divine creation. The lotus’s ability to emerge pristine from muddy waters is a powerful metaphor for spiritual purity and transcendence, rising above worldly attachments to attain enlightenment. This chowki, therefore, becomes more than just an object; it is a conduit to these divine energies, a sacred space upon which idols of deities can be placed, or Prasad can be offered, sanctifying the very act of devotion. Its brass construction further enhances its spiritual efficacy, as brass is considered a sattvic metal, known for its ability to attract and retain positive energies.

Craftsmanship and Enduring Beauty

Crafted from solid brass, this chowki possesses an inherent warmth and a lustrous sheen that speaks of quality and durability. The meticulous nakashi work, a traditional Indian art of engraving or chasing on metal, elevates the piece from mere utility to a work of art. Each line and curve is precisely etched, showcasing the artisan's dedication and mastery. The raised edges, subtly designed, ensure that any offerings or idols placed upon it are held securely, while also adding to its overall aesthetic appeal. The platform is supported by three small, sturdy legs, elevating it slightly from the surface, providing stability and a sense of groundedness, much like the roots of the lotus that anchor it to the earth while its bloom reaches for the heavens. This chowki is designed to be a cherished heirloom, its beauty and spiritual resonance deepening with time, a timeless addition to any sacred space.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
