This exquisitely modeled statuette depicts Ganesha who is seated in lalitasana on a lotus throne encircled by large inverted petals with smaller lotus petals above. The sculpture is modeled against an aureole of lotus petals. The round prabhamandala is also made from lotus petals. Ganesa is decked in a number of ornaments. He has three open eyes, drooping ears, and four hands. The upper right hand bears a cobra while the lower one holds a broken tusk and also makes the gesture of abhaya. The upper left hand holds a pasa (noose) while the lower one supports a tiny pot of laddus, relished by his trunk curving to the left. His hair is arranged in a coil behind the crown. The frontal humps are incised with decorative motifs.

He is wearing necklaces among them one descends to his stomach. A snake encircles the stomach of Ganesa in the shape of a belt. He is also wearing armlets, bracelets and anklets etc. The garments Ganesa is wearing are a flowing scarf and dhoti, incised with decorative designs.

It is believed that the four-armed from of Ganesa represents the four forms of speech.

Figures of the four-armed Ganesa either in seated or in standing postures have been unearthed from the Gupta period to the Nayakas of Madurai in South India and also from other parts of India.
