He is wearing necklaces among them one descends to his stomach. A snake encircles the stomach of Ganesa in the shape of a belt. He is also wearing armlets, bracelets and anklets etc. The garments Ganesa is wearing are a flowing scarf and dhoti, incised with decorative designs.
It is believed that the four-armed from of Ganesa represents the four forms of speech.
Figures of the four-armed Ganesa either in seated or in standing postures have been unearthed from the Gupta period to the Nayakas of Madurai in South India and also from other parts of India.
