Silver-And-Jewels Tulsi

$138
Includes any tariffs and taxes

The sacred Indian basil plant, immortalised in silver. Locally known as tulsi, this plant is enshrined as a Devi in the yards of almost every Indian home. In Sanskrt, Her name means ‘the matchless one’. She is considered a Lakshmiroopa (form of Devi Lakshmi) and the wife of Lord Vishnu. The work of art that you see on this page depicts a few sprigs of tulsi growing from a masonry structure, which is exactly how She is grown and worshipped in Hindu homes.

On a flat, almost paper-thin structure is a raised quadrilateral mound. An engraved masonry is poised upon the same, its body a fine example of intricate workmanship. The shimmering silver colour of the body of the masonry is superimposed with jewel-tones in red and green. It is as if the same is studded with the finest rubies and jewels, symbolic of the transcendental glamour of this seemingly humble plant.

Long silver stems gather to make a glimmering green canopy. The slender shoots have been so carved as to imitate their natural shape and bend, a detail that is proof of the sculptor’s skill of observation and reproduction. A flower of the tulsi plant emerges from the canopy, the delicate ochre blossoms having been reproduced with superbly lifelike detail. Such a compact holy basil could be carried about and installed anywhere the devotee wishes.

A Sacred Bloom of Sterling Silver and Enamel

This exquisite representation of the sacred Tulsi plant is more than just an object of adornment; it is a testament to enduring faith and artisanal mastery. Crafted from the purest sterling silver, its delicate stems and intricately shaped leaves evoke the venerated presence of the Tulsi, a plant considered divine in Hindu tradition, often referred to as the "Queen of Herbs" and an earthly manifestation of the goddess Vrinda. The Sterling Silver and Jewels Tulsi is designed to bring a touch of sacred elegance and spiritual resonance to any home or sacred space.

Symbolism and Spirituality

In ancient Indian lore, the Tulsi plant is deeply intertwined with devotion and divine favor. It is believed that worshipping Lord Vishnu is incomplete without offering Tulsi leaves. Legends tell of the goddess Lakshmi herself appearing as the Tulsi, signifying purity, prosperity, and spiritual growth. The presence of this sacred plant in a home is thought to ward off negativity and attract positive energies, blessings, and good fortune. This handcrafted piece captures that profound symbolism, making it a cherished item for devotees and collectors alike.

Artistry in Sterling Silver and Vibrant Enamel

The beauty of this Tulsi replica lies in its meticulous craftsmanship. Each slender stem is formed from lustrous sterling silver, its smooth surface reflecting light with a gentle gleam. The leaves, rendered in a rich, vibrant green enamel, mimic the lushness of the living plant, while touches of ruby red and emerald green enamel adorning the base add a regal and festive flair. The base itself is a miniature work of art, designed to resemble a decorative pot, intricately etched and bejeweled, providing a stable and elegant foundation. The small, radiant orange accents on the tips of some leaves add a final touch of brilliance, suggesting nascent blossoms or dew drops. This piece is a perfect fusion of precious metal and colorful artistry, designed to be a focal point of devotion and aesthetic appreciation. Its petite size makes it ideal for placement on altars, shelves, or as a sophisticated accent piece in any room.
