The Preserver of the Cosmos

This brass sculpture embodies Vishnu, the preserver and protector in the Hindu Trimurti (Trinity). Vishnu is revered for maintaining cosmic order and balance, incarnating in various forms to restore dharma (righteousness) whenever it is threatened. His divine interventions are central to Hindu mythology, offering hope and salvation to humanity. He is often depicted with a serene expression, reflecting his role as the compassionate guardian of the universe.

Shesha: The Eternal Serpent

The seven-hooded serpent, Shesha, forms the base and canopy of this piece. Shesha, also known as Ananta, is a primordial serpent upon whom Vishnu rests in the cosmic ocean during periods of rest between creations. Shesha symbolizes eternity and the infinite nature of existence. Each of the serpent heads is meticulously detailed, demonstrating a skillful representation of the majestic serpent. Shesha serves as both a support and a protector for Vishnu, representing the divine connection between preservation and the endless cycle of time.

Symbolism and Iconography

Vishnu's stance and the items he holds are rich with symbolism. In one hand, he holds the Padma (lotus), symbolizing purity, enlightenment, and spiritual unfolding. The lotus rising from the navel of Vishnu is believed to have given birth to Brahma, the creator, illustrating the interconnection between preservation and creation. Another hand holds the Shankha (conch shell), which when blown, produces a sound that resonates with the primordial sound of creation, "Om," dispelling ignorance and negativity. The other two hands are usually shown carrying Gada (mace) and Chakra (discus), the symbols of power and cosmic order.

A Blessing for Your Home

This sculpture serves as a tangible representation of divine protection and cosmic balance. Placing it in your home or sacred space invites the blessings of Vishnu and invokes a sense of peace and stability. It stands as a testament to the eternal principles of righteousness, preservation, and the unending cycle of creation and renewal. It is a reminder of the divine presence that watches over the universe and guides us towards spiritual growth. It's presence serves as a focus for meditation, contemplation, and connection with the deeper aspects of Hindu philosophy.
