She is a nubile young woman, atmost fifteen, yet Her heart is already steeped in surreal devotion. The slender proportions of her youthful form, adorned in an embroidered silk dhoti and layered gold jewellery, are pleasing to the onlooker. Indeed it is only Lord Krishna whom she has in mind as the onlooker, because in her love for Him she is impervious to anything besides His reciprocation. Such is the power of the milkmaid’s love.
She stands on an inverted lotus pedestal. Her delicate head bears the weight of a pot of milk, which she holds in place by raising a long arm to its mouth. Another arm she winds around the neck of another pot of milk which she rests securely on the curve of her hip. A long neck flanked by chunky karnakundalas. Note the fine features of her juvenile face and the composure of surrender contained therein.
