Lakshmi: Embodiment of Prosperity and Beauty

Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity (both material and spiritual), light, wisdom, fortune, fertility, generosity and courage; and the embodiment of beauty, grace and charm. She is revered as a benevolent force, a giver of life's abundance and a remover of sorrow. Seated gracefully upon a lotus pedestal, the goddess is often depicted with four hands, each holding symbolic objects that represent her multifaceted nature. Here, she graces this wick-lamp in the meditative Padmasana posture, radiating serenity and benevolence. One hand is posed in Abhaya Mudra, a gesture of fearlessness and protection, while another bestows blessings upon those who seek her grace.

The Significance of the Wick-Lamp

Lighting a lamp is an integral part of Hindu worship and is believed to dispel darkness, both literal and metaphorical. The wick-lamp, lit with oil or ghee, represents the divine light that illuminates the path to knowledge and enlightenment. It is a symbol of hope, positivity, and the triumph of good over evil. The warm glow of the flame is considered auspicious and is often used to invoke the blessings of Lakshmi.

The Peacock's Graceful Presence

Two peacocks, exquisitely crafted, adorn the structure. In Hindu mythology, the peacock is associated with Lakshmi and symbolizes patience, kindness, compassion, good luck and prosperity. Known for their dazzling plumage, they are associated with beauty, royalty, and love. The presence of peacocks brings an aura of elegance and grandeur to this piece, reflecting Lakshmi’s association with abundance and auspiciousness. The intricate details of their feathers and their elegant stance demonstrate the skill and artistry.

Craftsmanship and Devotion

This lamp is sculpted with precision and care. Each element, from the serene expression of Lakshmi to the intricate details of the peacocks, speaks to the devotion and artistry involved in its creation. Made of brass, this lamp is not only a beautiful art piece but also a lasting symbol of faith and prosperity. The golden hue adds a touch of luxury and enhances the overall aesthetic appeal. This wick-lamp is perfect for adding a touch of elegance and spirituality to any space. Light the wick and let Lakshmi's blessings fill your home with prosperity, peace, and enlightenment.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
