This Bengal cotton sari is a blend of Bengal weaves with the Orissa Bomkai tradition. The body of the sari is in plain ochre yellow which is very sober. It has small floral butis in brown color.
The border of the sari is woven in the typical Bomkai pattern. Set against an ochre yellow background, there are circles in brown color. The border is on both sides of the sari and is quite broad, making the plain body of the sari more beautiful.
The pallav is very rich and also reminds us of the Bomkai weave. There are rich floral circles and Rangoli patterns woven in dark brown threads. There are also large leaf patterns that are so typical of the Indian textiles. Indeed a wonderful sari for many occasions.
