Kanjivarams are the age-old sari weaving traditions followed in the temple town of Kanchipuram in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Woven in the temple town they acquire a special significance. Kanjivaram silks come in different weights of silk, ranging from light to heavy. In the southern part of India they form an unmistakable part of the weddings and other auspicious occasions. The weaves are exquisite and are often woven with pure gold zari threads increasing their value. Indeed Kanjivarams are the pride of south India.

This Kanjivaram sari is special because of the most popular temple border design, which are now rarely woven. The sari is woven with heavy silk and thus is quite weighty. The body of the sari is woven in ochre yellow color. The silk gives the body a certain luster that makes the sari unique.

The border is on both the sides and is woven in green red and brown color checks. The border is quite broad. Kanjivarams follow two types of border patterns-narrow and broad. This is a broad border variety, which stands out in the sari. In between the large checks are floral weaves which are scattered . The clincher is the temple border on the checks woven in aqua marine and magenta.

The Pallav is a marvellous mix of yellow, green and magenta threads woven horizontally with thin zari threads in between. The color scheme of the Pallav complements the body of the sari. The green color on the pallav gives a special beauty to the entire sari. This sari is pride of any wardrobe.
