This khatraaz is a striped fabric with different colours containing a fascinating blend of floral and architectural designs. The famous kalga boteh holds a prominent place and is housed within a niche. This way both the styles share an equal importance. There is no empty space whatever space is left vacant by the floral and architectural design is filled by meandering vines and smaller botehs. Not only the pattern but the colours are a curious mixture too. There is this soothing turquoise and flaming orange, the earth brown and ravishing purple and many more. I said a curious mixture because despite being chromatically sharply contrasting, these colours weave their way in and out of each other with ease and that too quite aesthetically. Khatraaz shawls will rarely have a hashiya, and hence this one does not have one. The ends have tassels of all the colours used and give a rainbow impression. If the pattern does not deviate from the traditional the colours do. The variety of colours offers the wearer with a wide choice of coloured attires to match or contrast with this extravagant shawl!
