This phiran - phirans are Kashmiri outerwear designed to be layered over multiple layers of clothes to battle the bitter cold of the valley - whose pastel misty red, an unusual colour, is set off to perfection by hand-embroidered flowers in bright fruity colours, is sure to become a conversation starter wherever you go. Superfine needles and extensive beadwork are used to put together chain-stitch imprints - few things capture the essence of the Oriental world than the endemic ari needlework perfected over generations by artisans in the Indian valley of Kashmir.
