Authentic Ritual & Pooja items & Accessories for Hindu Worship

In both Hinduism and Buddhism, the term puja refers to the act of expressing honor, beholding a deity in worship, and giving devotion. For this reason, elements used in puja should be considered sacred. So, Exotic India has put together this collection of ritual items, including puja, to allow everyone an opportunity to express their spirituality.

These items have many uses, as there are many reasons for ritual in human life. One of the most common is to celebrate the arrival and presence of an honorable guest. They may also be performed on special occasions, marking important events. Weddings, funerals, births, and many other major milestones in life may be treated with a ceremony.

Rituals at these times help bring us together and mark major transitions with auspicious signs. Of course, we do not only need rituals to commemorate our worldly activity. Rituals are often used in the worship of deities. Here, we use ritual to connect to higher states, and we do so using the actions that billions of other humans have used throughout history.

Some will be called to conduct puja every day, even multiple times a day. And at different times, we may be called to worship different deities or carry out our rituals in different ways. At all times, however, we should ensure that the items we use are given the respect that they deserve.
No matter where your ritual practice is today, or where it will go in the future, we are here to supply you. Exotic India’s collection of ritual and puja items spans the entire spectrum of your needs.

Exotic India’s Collection of Over 2400 Ritual Items Made with Pure Materials

Here are the types of ritual objects we have in our collection, gathered over 3 decades from houses of traditional artists-

Abhishek Patra

Used for sacred ablutions during pujas, Abhishek Patras pour sanctified liquids over deities, symbolizing purification, devotion, and divine invocation.

Karttikeya's Vel

The Vel, Karttikeya’s spear, represents divine power and protection. It is worshipped to remove obstacles and invoke inner strength.

Trishul

Symbolizing creation, preservation, and destruction, the Trishul is associated with Shiva. It wards off negativity and balances spiritual energies during rituals.

Bells

Rung during rituals to awaken deities, dispel evil, and create sacred vibrations, bells signify auspicious beginnings and spiritual alertness.

Bowls

Used to hold offerings like water, rice, or flowers, ritual bowls are vital for structured worship, symbolizing purity and receptivity.

Boxes

Ritual boxes store sacred items like vibhuti, kumkum, or prayer tools, preserving sanctity and maintaining the spiritual essence of rituals.

Conches

Blown to signal ritual beginnings, conches invoke auspiciousness, purify the environment, and symbolize the primordial sound of creation, Om.

Incense Burners

Incense burners hold smoldering sticks or resins. Their fragrance purifies spaces, uplifts moods, and pleases deities during religious ceremonies.

Lamps

Lit to dispel darkness and ignorance, ritual lamps invoke divine presence, foster clarity, and mark the start of sacred activities.

Musical

Ritual music, including cymbals and drums, energizes ceremonies, syncs collective devotion, and invites divine grace through rhythmic vibrations.

Shiva Linga

Representing Shiva’s cosmic presence, the Linga is bathed and worshipped in rituals to honor creation, power, and transcendence.

Thalis

Used to arrange ritual items like diyas, flowers, or prasad, thalis help organize offerings and facilitate focused, aesthetic worship.

Tibetan

Tibetan ritual items—like singing bowls or vajras—are used for meditation, healing, and spiritual clarity in Buddhist and syncretic Indian practices.

Vastu

Vastu tools like pyramids and yantras are used in rituals to balance energies, harmonize spaces, and invite prosperity and peace.

How to Clean Ritual Items: A Sacred Practice

Cleaning a ritual object requires purity of process and mind-

🔶Cleaning is a Ritual Act: Unlike ordinary objects, ritual items like lamps, bells, yantras, trishuls, and Vastu objects hold sacred energy. Cleaning them is not just maintenance, it is part of the spiritual process.

🔶Approach with Devotion: Always begin with a calm mind. It is advised to take a bath before cleaning to maintain personal purity.

🔶Use Natural, Sacred Substances: Traditional materials like lemon, tamarind, rock salt, ash (vibhuti), or cow dung ash are often used to clean brass and copper ritual items, respecting their sanctity.

🔶Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Synthetic cleaners may harm the spiritual integrity and metal quality of ritual objects. Stick to natural cleansing methods.

🔶Water Matters: Preferably use Gangajal (Ganges water), or filtered water mixed with turmeric or sandalwood, especially while cleaning items like Shiva Lingas or yantras.

🔶Dry with Care: After cleaning, gently wipe with a clean cotton cloth. Never leave sacred items wet or unkempt, as neglect is believed to reduce their potency.

🔶Regular Cleansing Maintains Energy: Clean lamps and bells weekly, and yantras and Vastu objects monthly or on auspicious days. Regular care keeps the objects spiritually charged and effective.

🔶Chant While Cleaning: Recite mantras such as the Gayatri Mantra, Om Namah Shivaya, or other relevant chants during cleaning to energize the item and yourself.

🔶Special Handling for Yantras and Vastu Objects: Clean with water, raw milk, and wipe gently. Do not touch with unclean hands. Place them back in a sanctified space after cleaning.

🔶Reinstall with Reverence: Once cleaned, place the item back in its position with flowers, incense, and a small offering if possible, symbolizing its re-sanctification.

Q9. Which material is best for ritual items?

Traditionally, brass and bronze are used for various ritual purposes. Copper, wood, and stone are also considered ritually fit materials, which are prescribed in ancient texts as a part of Puja and other auspicious processes.

Q10. What should be placed in front of the main door?

The entrance gate should have a threshold, (wood or marble), and put a rangoli on the floor in front of the main door. The area around the main door should be clean. Avoid keeping a dustbin, broken stools, or chairs near the main gate. Decorate the main entrance with divine symbols like swastikas, ohm, crosses, and even flowers placed right outside the door.

Divine idols and photos of Ganesha, Laxmi, and Hanuman are kept to welcome good luck, wealth, and prosperity. Hang a black horseshoe, place a glass pot filled with flower petals and water, a laughing Buddha statue, a wooden tortoise, Jasmine, Money Plant, and Citrus Tree are some of the best Vastu plants for the entrance.

Q11. Where lights should be placed in a bedroom?

The light should hit at eye level, where the artwork hangs. If he uses a pendant or a semi-flush ceiling fixture, it's usually centered in the room, often over the bed. Don’t hang it too low—typically eight to 12 inches from the ceiling. The center of the bedroom is not always the best place to put a ceiling light. In the bedroom, this is most likely the bed.

'The minimum number of lights in a bedroom is probably two: a ceiling light and a bedside lamp or pendant, but there is no maximum. Hanging of light: The general rule is 1 foot for every 3 inches, meaning that for every foot of room height, the chandelier should be 3 inches.

Q12. What items are required for Puja?

Performing Puja is a way of offering our love and devotion to God and therefore, it is carried out in a humble state of mind. Various items are used for this purpose such as a thali (made of copper or silver) fresh flowers, a pot containing fresh water (preferably Gangajal) and a spoon, a bell, an incense holder with an odd number of incense sticks or a ghee lamp with an odd number of wicks, and a clean handkerchief.
