Hanuman Prasad Poddar

Hindu spiritual authority, author, and publisher Hanuman Prasad Poddar was instrumental in the 20th-century resuscitation of the Ramayana tradition in North India. He was created in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, in a small village.

In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Poddar established the Gita Press, which went on to become one of India's most renowned publishing firms, especially for Hindu holy works. He believed in the effectiveness of making spiritual knowledge accessible to the general public, and the Gita Press significantly contributed to the promotion of the Ramayana and other Hindu writings in the Hindi language, making them more widely available.

In addition, Poddar published a number of books on Hinduism's spirituality and philosophy, including "Ramcharitmanas Sar," "Ramayan Katha," "Dharma Jivan," and "Kalyan." For spiritual development and liberation, he emphasised the value of reading and studying Hindu texts.

Poddar was also active in philanthropic and social causes, particularly those related to healthcare and education. To offer education and healthcare to the underprivileged, he established numerous schools and hospitals in Uttar Pradesh.

The Gita Press, which continues to print and promote Hindu texts and literature, as well as the numerous educational and medical institutions he founded are today's manifestations of Poddar's legacy.
