Indian author and translator K.V. Jagannathan is well recognised for his translations of Tamil literary masterpieces into English.
Numerous classic works of Tamil literature were translated by Jagannathan, including the well-known epic poem "Silappadikaram" and the writings of contemporary Tamil authors like Pudhumaipithan and Mauni. His translations are renowned for their literary excellence as well as their correctness and fidelity to the source materials.
For his contributions to the area of translation, Jagannathan won a number of honours, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, one of India's most esteemed literary honours, for his translation of Pudhumaipithan's "Selected Short Stories." For his contributions to Tamil literature, he also received the Kalaimamani award from the Tamil Nadu government.
