The Metal Tree Wall Art: Serendipity in Aesthetics

(Viewed 5432 times since Jan 2024)

The Metal Tree is a unique and magnificent piece of wall decor that plays with the concept of flora and its symbolism. It has been in tradition to portray trees on walls and canvases to not only bring forth the beauty of flora but also start a conversation regarding the concept of regeneration and growth.

Here in this blog, we discuss and delve upon the thought of placing the metal tree art in homes and welcoming the auspiciousness of the symbol.

Philosophy, at Wall Decor

What is it about the visual aspect of a tree that enthralls us? It’s a complex body as seen, felt, and understood. A tree trespasses the boundaries of elements, and again trespasses the boundaries of texture. It meets the earth and grows tall to the sky - playing with the wind, it soaks the water too.

Its textures are various and perplexing, yet gorgeous to our senses - a rough trunk, but the soil to its root is porous, still, as it breathes, the roots hold it captive - reserves of water flowing beneath and the soft tips of branches; its leaves can almost be in transparent in the sun, exposing a web of life and opaque in the dark, tracing nothing - a play of light and blinks.

The fruits it bears could be fleshy or crunchy, and the flowers that bloom have petals reminiscent of the soft feathers, in a palette of colors we’re still finding names for.

What does Tree Art Symbolise

Trees represent free will, in the cycle of seasons, they stand strong to the extremities when they have to and choose fragility - in shedding leaves. For what’s temporary, one principle these natural giants reinforce is the connection to roots.

In strength and fragility, they’re equally rooted - this assurance doesn’t validate the vice of ego. Ego who’s never been a tree’s friend is crushed when old trees let go of themselves in opening spaces, for every tree that bears the fruits, branches only bend to share.

What’s humility to a tree? Which is a shed and natural reservoir as well; serving not just humanity but animals, birds, and flora; camouflaging reptiles, insects, and millions of microsomes - Trees truly capture the essence of ‘Seva’ - unconditional service that is the transcendental act of divine.

The Kalpa Vriksha and Bodhi

In ancient Indian religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism - Kalpa Vriksha is an occurring name for the wish-fulfilling tree of higher heavens; which comes from the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) between the Devas and Asuras.

The Hindu tradition worships and reveres the Pipal tree as the residing site of Trimurti, where Brahman sits in the roots, Shiva in the leaves, and Vishnu in the trunk - this is one citing among the several trees which are held sacred.

In the Buddhist tradition, specific trees are associated with the state of Bodhisattva or enlightenment given Buddha had focused on remembrance under the Bodhi tree, just like the Tirthankaras of Jainism.

The Cosmic Tree of Life

The archetype of the Cosmic tree is rather universal that emphasizes it as the axis mundi to every feature through which the universe operates. The tree of immorality and the Garden of Eden in Islam and Christianity respectively are cases of this network. In Norse tradition, the tree named Yggdrasil brings the nine existing worlds together and ancient Greeks have pinned trees as oracles.

Global Inspirations for Your Living Room

The story of culture is similarly intertwined with the story of trees and their necessary belonging in societies, where they have been worshipped and honored for mystical powers.

People in Siberia and Indonesia considered trees as the origin of humankind, while Papua New Guinea knew men as moving trees.

The Himalayan Nation of Nepal and parts of China saw trees as symbols of eternal love and Cedars, were the trees from Paradise in Arabia.
