Sri. P. Jagannath Prasad Rao having acquired his Master's degree in Economics (Gold Medalist), started his career as a faculty in prestigious G.M College, Sambalpur. After a brief stint as a lecturer, he joined United Bank of India in 1975 and served in different capacities in Odisha, West Bengal, and Assam. He superannuated as AGM Central Assam Region in July 2010. Sri Rao came to the Sai fold at the age of 16 and was associated with Sai Organisation since 1969. Despite pressing workload and frequent transfers, he contributed to the growth and spread of Sai Message, wherever he stayed, through his active participation in Organisational activities, delivering talks on Swami and translating Swami's books into Odia. Some of his translations are "Sathyam-Sivam- Sundaram" - four volumes, "Who is a devotee?", "Sathyopanishad", and "Sathya Sai Anandadayi". On his superannuation Bhagawan gave him the enormous responsibility of serving Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Odisha as State President. It is the Grace of Bhagawan that enabled him to face initially those testing days after Mahasamadhi when the devotees were in a state of shock to help them recover from the sense of loss and instil in them the faith that He is still there. It was under His dynamic leadership, many innovative projects were initiated and are still continuing successfully across Odisha. Some of the key projects so implemented are "Prema Sanjeevani, Amrut Bindu, Sathya Sai Housing Project, Parthi Sudha, Digital connectivity, Sarve Shantu Niramaya, Jagannath to Sainath Prema Plavan Yatra, Eka Satha Koti Likhita Japa and, Akhanda Jyoti Yatra". These programmes have brought Odisha to the forefront of Sai activities in the country and made the state a living example of the wonders that Sai Activities can bring about in the life and living of His devotees.
