Om Sai Ram!
It gives me great pleasure to write a Foreword for this magnificent book titled 'Divinity at Play' by Colonel Arun Malhotra. He belongs to a family of Sai devotees who have been blessed to have had close proximity to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba for several decades. They have also received innumerable blessings from Swami. Col Malhotra, being an army officer, has recorded the various incidents narrated in his book in typical army style, without any exaggeration and he has also tried to be as analytical as possible in his writing.
In fact, his meticulous jottings in his diaries, carefully preserved for several decades, stood him in good stead to recall various incidents and place the jottings in their correct perspective.
I wish to congratulate Col. Malhotra for narrating the various incidents and learnings not only from his own life experiences, but also that of several of his family members. This book has thus been very aptly called "Divinity At Play". His love and total devotion to Swami comes out clearly throughout the book. All chapters in the book are narrations of various miracles of Swami, which, to fellow devotees, are hardly surprising, because almost all of Swami's devotees would have experienced similar miracles. However, compiling them into a very readable and easy flowing book and to write with such deep faith and extreme humility, needs a display of great talent and courage. Some of the miracles are literally 'out of the world such as those describing 'resurrections'. Others demonstrate Swami's omnipresence, omnipotence, omniscience, that are soul stirring.
However, all the miracles underscore the importance of unshakeable faith and total surrender to Swami as Col. Malhotra has done.
A t the outset, my humble pranams at the lotus feet of our Lord Bhagawan Baba.
I am short of words to express my deep sense of gratitude to our beloved Sri Sathya Sai Baba, for being the divine force to get me motivated to write this book, as also being my focal point in each Chapter that I rename DAP.
"Do your work without an eye on the reward, and NEVER forget to lovingly dedicate what you do, to Him". Baba. This Book is thus dedicated to Him.
As I revised my finalised script with all the narratives in their correct perspective, I felt it necessary to acknowledge a few members of my family, without whose support this book may not have been written at this rapid a pace. Almost the complete book was written during the first four months of the COVID Lock down. Every now and then, I had to refer to my son Ashish for his 'recall' to authenticate my narrative. Being Swami's student at SSSIHL at Puttaparthi during the period of several of the family miracles, he was a witness to very many such experiences, as a participant at Trayee Sessions and several of our family interviews. I owe a large part of my Book to his contributions and the consistent support to go ahead with the writing. Equally supportive was daughter Pooja who provided me the right environment, logistics, ambience and privacy to get on with the writing. Thank you Ashish and Pooja.
To my sisters Pratibha and Rashmi, who were with me and my mother for several interviews and Darshans, coming all the way from Delhi and California respectively. Rashmi from USA was there to support with inputs for several of the Miracles, especially the one where I called Swami in distress and He responded. This miracle had happened at her place at Alamo in California. Thank you, Pratibha and Rashmi.
I must equally acknowledge the push and continuous support of my professional colleague and an ardent devotee of Bhagawan, Dr Rema Ramchandran. I had a lot of 'starting trouble'. Should I write or not? She was instrumental in motivating me to go ahead with writing, assuring me of helping me consolidate, edit, and advice. Thank you Dr. Rema Ramchandran.
I am also grateful to Dr.V.Mohan, Padma Shree, member of the Board of Trustees of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and a leading Diabetologist of the country, who took time out from his busy Research and Practice schedules, to write the Foreword for the book.
