"Those who live passionately know how to love. Those who love passionately know how to live."
- Paramahamsa Yogananda
Life is for living and loving. Life is for accepting and accommodating. Life is for letting go and letting love grow. Life is for serving and always being humble. Life is to be grateful and thankful. As children of God, we have been blessed with human life. With this life we can thrive, and we can strive to be divine. Life is truly a rare opportunity, and time is so precious. Our beloved Shri Gurudev Paramahamsa Hariharananda often said that we are not just human beings, we are God in human beings. Nevertheless, for inner growth and evolution, we must apply ourselves sincerely.
In 2017, we began the celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of our beloved paramaguru Paramahamsa Yoganandaji. Throughout the year we focused on living compassionate lives and freeing ourselves from finding faults in others. When we do look for faults, we must always focus on recognizing our own shortcomings and rectifying our own mistakes. Moreover, at the end of the year we should do some self-analysis regarding how successful we have been in our endeavors. If we conclude that our success is remarkable, we should move a step further.
A judgmental attitude and a faultfinding nature that criticizes others are two sides of the same coin. Unfortunately, we use our time, talent, strength, and energy to such an extent satisfying these habits that we lose our inner peace and joy. We live our days judging everything and everybody. Does this behavior produce a healthy and worthwhile result? Who can judge? Who is authorized to judge? Who among us is qualified?
Another year has already passed. Once again the New Year is upon us. Have we proceeded forward in our efforts to change our attitudes and eradicate our faultfinding natures? We must evaluate ourselves.
This coming year, let us again focus on not judging others. Let us live this year with renewed spirit and vigor to be sincere seekers and kind and good children of God. Apart from celebrating the New Year, we are also closing the celebration of Paramahamsa Yoganandaji's 125th birth anniversary. Let us honor him deeply and bring new light into our lives by making God-centered choices. I pray to God and the masters to bless each one of us on the occasion of New Year 2018.
