The Epic Mahabharata is full of moral episodes depicting supreme sacrifice, grateful children and woman who make great sacrifices to fulfill the wishes of their parents; episodes depicting the consequences of evil habits like addiction to gambling. They give tips for leading a virtuous life etc. The episode when read by young boys and girls, their minds become dyed to their thoughts, foster their psychological health and induce in them largeness of mind and normative vision. They also give moral contentment. They teach us right spiritual and moral way of life to lead by acquiring spiritual knowledge and become ideal citizens by leading a life of self-sacrifice, adherence to truth, justice, equality, compassion and love towards all living beings irrespective of caste and creed.
