The child rights and welfare concerns have been addressed in a number of International Conventions. The Government of India also ratified these Conventions. Despite these National and International commitment to combat child labour, the problem of child labour in India both in rural as well as urban areas mostly remain the same as it was in the past. All of these child labour have compelled to work in a harsh exploitative work situation to meet their immediate survival needs and deprived of all sorts of human rights as children. This book is intend to highlighted the fact that how these children were abused, exploited, harassed by their employer and compelled to work under various stressful conditions who require special protection because of their tender age physique and mental faculties. This book also highlighted the fact that how the demand of human rights of children like compulsory and universal elementary education along with strategies for income generation empowerment of women, enforcement of child labour laws, minimum wage legislation and provision of social services for affected families is increasingly being recognised as the most relevant instruments to combat child labour.

Obtained MA in Sociology and B.Ed degree from Calcutta University, doctoral degree from Kalyani University, joined Department of Sociology Malda Women's College, West Bengal under North Bengal University in 1981.Now Associate Professor, teaching U.G & P.G. Courses for about 30 years. Academic Counsellor of several courses of IGNOU. Doing and supervising several Projects Preparing Human Development Report on Gender Issue under UNDP Project & Situation Analysis under ICPS and DCPS Project. Associated and advisory Board member of several NGOS. Life member of "Indian Anthropological Society & Society for Applied Sociology India (SASI). Presenting papers on various sessions of *Samajbigyan Congress, West Bengal and UGC sponsored seminar. Published various article in book and Journal; interested in Applied Sociology.
