Book Description
About The Book

This book details 905 Kaliyuga dated inscriptions in chronological order that eventually wiped out the common belief that only a few such inscriptions existed and there was no common era followed throughout Bharat. The book reveals their prevalence throughout Bharat and in other South & South Asian Countries and their uninterrupted continuity for several thousand years from Kali 2000 to Kali 5042. Thus, they exceeded both space and time extremities, proving the cultural continuity and oneness. Though separated by thousands of Kilometers and were issued several centuries apart, these Kali dated inscriptions pinpoint precisely one date 3101 B.C.E., as the Kaliyuga Epoch, with decisive proofs. In depth study and analysis of these 905 inscriptions prove that they are cross verifiable, through the corroborative data found in them.

The thorough analysis given at the end of the book reveals one astonishing fact. There are 62 inscriptions in Kali date, within a single district of western Tamilnadu State. The historical cause for this profound usage in a smaller locality has been analysed and the rationale was uncovered through conclusive proofs.

About The Author

Dr.M.L.Raja is an Ophthalmologist and Historian with qualifications M.B., B.S., D.O., Dip. in Archaeology and Epigraphy and M.A. (History). Decades of his sustained study and work on the historical chronology revealed that inscriptions are the important concrete base, to derive the dates of historical events, as they mentioned the dates precisely. Further, inscriptions are being placed in public open spaces, they are free from interpolations etc. Thus, he started collecting, studying and analysing inscriptions and he has read nearly 50,000 inscriptions out of his collection of about 1,50,000 copies. This deep study paved the way to compile Kaliyuga dated inscriptions, since Kaliyuga Epoch is the actual sheet anchor of Bharatiya chronology.

He started Research Institute of Chronology and History (RICH), dedicated to derive the exact chronology and history of Bharat, in all disciplines like Medicine, Engineering, Judiciary, Civil administration, Science and Technology, etc., and to integrate the recent developments in Science and Technology in History, as History is arts, but nonetheless science.

Preface

After more than five years of consistent work, a text, elaborating on 905 inscriptions dated in Kaliyuga years, has been now published. These 905 inscriptions are listed in chronological order from the most ancient to most modem. The text details the essential information for every inscription, including, the location of the inscription, in which text it was published, the Dynasties and the Kings who issued them and the language and the script in which they were inscribed. The date of the inscription in Kaliyuga years are highlighted in bold letters. The corresponding dates in other eras, are also provided next to the Kaliyuga date. This complete set of details including the corresponding dates in other eras, Dynasties, and Kings, creates an absolute and concrete base, for cross verification and cross checking of the Kaliyuga dates, inscribed in these inscriptions.

Following is the brief account of the various eras, mentioned in these inscriptions.

1. Kaliyuga: Began on the very same day, when Sree Krishna left the world to His Abode, as mentioned in Vishnu Purana, Sreemad Bhagavatam, Matsya Purana, Brahmanda Purana, Vayu Purana and Kaliyuga Raja Vruttanta.

2. Jayabhyudaya Yudhishthira Saka: As shown in the inscriptions of Jaisalmer of Rajasthan and Elayirampannai of Tamilnadu, it began around the same year of Kaliyuga epoch. Maharishi Veda Vyasa started narrating Mahabharata text in this year. The other names of Mahabharata text are Jaya and Bharatam. Thus, Jayabhyudaya means the commencement of narration of Jaya, the Mahabharata text (Jaya+ Udaya). The inscriptions of Pandava King Janamejaya was issued in 89th year of this Era and the same are detailed at serial numbers 904 and 905 of this text.

3. Laukikabda or Saptarishi Era: Kashmir or North Indian Calendar (for the year Wednesday 13th March AD 1794 to Monday 31st March AD 1794), found in the Chambers Collection of MSS of the Berlin Library, was detailed in Indian Antiquary Volume 20, Pages 149 to 154. The years mentioned in this calendar are, Saptarishi Era 4869, Sree Saka 1715, Vikramaditya Samvat 1850, Kaliyuga 4894. Thus, Saptarishi Era year 4869 is corresponding to Kaliyuga year 4894, and it proves that Sapatarishi Era (Laukika Abda) began in Kali 25 year (48944869). It is prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir and adjacent areas.

4. Vikrama Samvat: Emperor Vikramaditya of Pramara Dynasty of Ujjayini started an Era in his name in Kali 3044 year (57 B.C.E.). This was detailed by the great poet Kalidasa in his Jyotirvidabharamnam (Rajasaddhatyaya 111st sloka), Bhavishya Purana (3:1:7:14 & 15), Kalahana's Rajatarangini (125 Sloka of 3 Taranga & 128th sloka of 2 Taranga), and the writings of Abul Fazl, Alexander Cunningham, Al Berani, John McCrindle, A.P.Sinnet, Sir William Jones in their texts, "Ain-i-Akbari" 1" Volume 3 Part Page 263, "Book on Indian Eras" Page 7 & 52, "Tahqiq ma lil Hind", Page 7 of Part 2, "Ancient India as described by Ptolemy", Page 154 & 155, "Esoteric Buddhism", Page 151, "Asiatic Researches" 4% Volume Page xiv & "The works of Sir William Jones", Volume 3, Page 320, respectively. It is also proved by more than 20,000 inscriptions distributed through out Bharat, especially the inscriptions of Jaisalmer of Rajasthan, Elayirampannai and Thodoor of Tamilnadu and Unkesvar of Maharashtra This Era is widely used in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and western parts of Madhya Pradesh.

5. Salivahana Saka & Sakabdam: It was started by Emperor Salivahana of Pramara Dynasty of Ujjayini in Kali 3179th year. This was revealed in Kalidasa's Jyotirvidabharamnam (Rajasaddhatyaya 111st sloka), and Astronomical texts like Laghu and Mahabhaskariyan, Vatesvara Siddhanta, Sishyadhee Vruttida Tantra, and Siddhanta Siromani. It is also proved by more than 40,000 inscriptions, distributed through out Bharat, especially Aihole of Maharashtra, Uyyakondan Thirumalai and Elayirampannai of Tamilnadu, Jaisalmer of Rajsthan, Bellur of Karnataaka and Devalacheruvu of Andhra Pradesh. Though in the earlier period, "Saka Era" denoted Saka Kaala and Saka Nrupa Kaala (the Era of Saka King), but latter, Salivahana Saka is used to be mentioned as Saka Era also, especially in inscriptions.
