Kamarpukur and Jayrambati
Description
Preface

It is the unfailing testimony of history that the spots associated with the lives and activities of Prophets become in after years holy places of pilgrimage and centres of spiritual culture. Bethlehem and Jerusalem, Mecca and Medina, redolent of the hallowed memories of the Prophets of Christianity and Islam, have become perennial sources of spiritual peace for millions of men and women. The glory of Sri Ramachandra is sung even today in Ayodhya. Thousands of devotees pay homage to Sri Krishna at Mathura, Vrindaban, and Dwaraka. Numberless pilgrims derive inspiration and peace from the birthplaces of the great ones like Buddha, Shankara, Ramanuja, Sri Chaitanya, Nanak, and Madhava. No doubt, time has wrought havoc in these holy places; still the stream of faith and devotion flowing from the hearts of mankind has kept them vibrant and alive. Similar is the case with the birthplace of Sri Ramakrishna. Full of the sacred memories of the past, it stands today as a great fount of peace and joy giving spiritual solace to people who are troubled by the worries and troubles of this materialistic age. With the increasing popularity of his life in the different parts of the world, there is witnessed today an irresistible desire in the hearts of innumerable devotees to visit the various places connected with the life and activities of the great Master.

In the following pages, a brief description of Kamarpukur, Jayrambati, and other adjacent places along with short life sketches of Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Saradamani Devi (the Holy Mother) is given for the benefit of the pilgrims who want to visit these regions.
