In December 2000, I travelled to Puducherry with my wife for a short visit as tourists. However, there was an unknown Power which brought me in contact with Shri Vijay Poddar (Vijaybhai) and Shri Pradeep Narang (Pradeepbhai) of Sri Aurobindo Society. The visits became more frequent with the passage of time and I started reading the writings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother and other Ashram authors. Sri Aurobindo's philosophy and vision appealed to me because of my inner nature. I found this experience very enriching and my inner urge compelled me to become an inmate of Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville. In the meanwhile, I was drawn to work for Sri Aurobindo Society.
Having joined the National Defence Academy in 1955, I had been commissioned in the Indian Army in 1959 but had taken premature retirement in 1980. The search for knowledge continued to add to my educational and professional qualifications.
Thereafter, I served in the Private Sector for over 24 years and ultimately, resigned from Unitech Ltd as Group Executive Director in the year 2002 with a view to lead an inner life and started going into the depth of Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother as I have always been a keen student of mystical literature
Considering all this, Pradeep bhai and Vijaybhai advised me to go back to Gurugram and establish Sri Aurobindo Centre there. In April 2008, Sri Aurobindo Society-Gurugram was established at our residence. Since 15 August 2012, the Centre has been functioning from its newly built premises at Sri Aurobindo Bhavan in South City-1 in Gurugram. It has been helping its members in exploring the Oneness in All.
Some of the articles in this compilation were written for my talks at Sri Aurobindo Centre, Gurugram, with the aim of disseminating in general the aims and ideals of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. They also truly reflect my progressive development on the path of Integral Yoga. It is hoped that these articles will be of some value to the aspirants and seekers of Integral Yoga. The Mother had prophesied that Sri Aurobindo's thought would spread throughout the world in next fifty years. We are seeing a change and helping all in accepting the insights of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
The material from which this collection of articles evolved includes works of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, Ashram authors and my talks delivered at our Centre. They all try to explain the Unfathomable in different ways. We all are explorers of the great frontier of Consciousness. Sri Aurobindo and the Mother have left maps and the path to follow. It is hoped that this collection of articles will inspire aspirants, seekers and others who are walking the path of Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
My grateful thanks to my mentors Pradeepbhai and Vijaybhai and to Dr Alok Pandey for their help and guidance; to the Mother for her Grace and blessings. My thanks also go my colleagues at Sri Aurobindo Centre, Gurugram, editors and Publisher. My special thanks to Pradeepbhai for the last minute connectivity to the Auro Publications.
Each of the fourteen sections of this book represents a different state of awareness and consciousness. You need not read these articles in any specified order. Let your inner curiosity lead you to whatever it will. When your heart opens, then the real instrument of seeing opens its eye and sees.
This Book is intended for free distribution by the author to members of Gurugram Centre and others for non-commercial purpose. If using extracts from this book in lessons, critical articles and or review, please identify the author and source of the quotation.
Whenever I meet Shri Krishan Sethi, it seems that I have known him for centuries though in physical terms it has been less than a decade and a half. Then it dawned on me that I have this feeling because he and I, both have been moulded and chiseled by the same pair of hands of the Mother. When I listen to his talks or read his writings, it produces a sense of camaraderie.
Shri Krishan Sethi is a soul captured by the Mother for Her work through Sri Aurobindo Society. He has worked as the Mother's instrument to disseminate Her teachings in accordance with the mandate given by Her to the Society in the Articles and Memorandum of Association framed by Her:
"To make known to the members and people in general the aims and ideals of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, their system of integral Yoga and to work for its fulfillment in all possible ways and for the attainment of a spiritualized society as envisaged by Sri Aurobindo"
The articles which Sri Aurobindo Society is publishing have been written by him based on his talks at Sri Aurobindo Society, Gurugram. His writings, no doubt, reflect his inner journey. When one reads these writings one realizes that he has written them straight from the heart. This is what lends authenticity and warmth to his expressions. I am sure these will inspire a true aspirant to go deeper into the yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
