About the Book True love is an expression of Divinity. Like the mariner's compass, it always points to the Divine wherever it may be present. As oil makes a lamp burn, love illumines life itself. What is termed love in ordinary worldly life is not real love at all. It is only some form of attachment based on human relationships in family or society. True love is pure, selfless, free from pride, and is full of bliss. Such love can be got only through love. All worldly attachments are not real love; they are transient. Everlasting, pure love arises from the heart. In fact, it is ever-existing and all-pervading. How is it that man is unable to recognize such all-pervading love? It is because man's heart today has become barren and polluted. The heart is filled with all kinds of desires and there is no room in it for pure, unsullied love to enter. It is only when worldly attachments are expelled from the heart that there will be room for real love to abide in it and grow. The descriptions of different aspects of love dealt with in this book are woven around the discourses and instructions graced by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Bhagawan Baba's teachings and practical demonstrations of His Divine love form the core around which words are knitted by the author to give a semblance of a garland. The author reverentially offers this work at His lotus feet.

Preface We live in a three-dimensional space. Our bodies, houses, and cities, length, breadth, and height. Time is have three dimensions generally regarded as the fourth dimension. As such, the two important parts of our existence are Space, where we live, and Time against which we measure our activities and growth. If we refer to space, for simplicity, as the first dimension and time as the second dimension; then we can say that any living and non-living thing on Earth exists within the two dimensions of Space and Time. If we ponder over whether space and time can fully define our existence, we soon realize that no! They cannot! There is something more to us than space and time. What is that something? It is not difficult to realize that we are aware of our consciousness and know instinctively that consciousness is not bound by space and time. Further contemplation on these reveals to us that besides space and time, consciousness is another element of our existence. It is very interesting to note that Space is physical and gross. Time is subtler than Space and Consciousness is the subtlest one. As we go deeper into the discourses, instructions, and declarations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba with utmost reverence, we gradually come to realize that the eternal consciousness is nothing but God. What is God? "God is Love, Love is God," says Baba.
