For thirty years, I have lived in two worlds.
By day, I stand in the bustling classrooms of a high school, holding a piece of chalk. In that world, truth is something that must be proven. I teach my students that 2+2 always equals 4, that parallel lines never meet, and that every equation must have a solution. It is a world of logic, defined by the tangible and the measurable.
By evening, I sit in my prayer room, holding a string of beads. In that world, truth is something that must be felt. I chant the ancient verses of Sri Rudram, bowing to a God who is formless yet formed, fierce yet peaceful, smaller than an atom yet larger than the galaxy. It is a world of faith, defined by the unseen and the infinite.
For a long time, I kept these two worlds separate. I thought that Science was the language of the Mind, and Spirituality was the language of the Heart. But life has a way of erasing lines. Through personal struggles, health crises, and moments of deep grace, I began to realize that Shiva is not contradictory to Science. In fact, He is the ultimate source of it. When I looked closer at the Namakam, I didn't just see a prayer, I saw the laws of Physics describing the conservation of energy. When I analyzed the Chamakam, I didn't just hear a chant; I heard the rhythmic precision of Arithmetic Progressions. I realized that the Rishis who wrote these verses were not just poets; they were the first scientists.
This book is my humble attempt to bridge the gap. It is written for the student who questions why we chant, and for the devotee who wonders how it works. It is an exploration of the Divine through the lens of numbers, vectors, and fractals.
I am not a Sanskrit scholar, nor am I a scientist in a high-tech laboratory. I am simply a teacher who loves her subject and her Lord. If there are errors in this book, they belong to my limited understanding. If there is truth, it belongs entirely to the Cosmic Mathematician, Lord Shiva.
