Every life is a story, many times, an epic, especially if touched by God. This book, titled "My Life, His Grace, written by Dr. Seethalakshmi Laxmanan, currently a Visiting Faculty at the Department of Biosciences in the Women's Campus of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, is a quick peep into how her life has been shaped by her association with Bhagawan Baba.
In the tapestry of human life, there are rare souls whose journeys are not merely personal but profoundly universal-illuminating paths for others through the grace they have received and the wisdom they have gathered. "My Life His Grace" by Dr. Seethalakshmi is one such offering a heartfelt chronicle of a life transformed, guided, and uplifted by the divine presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
This book is not just a memoir, it is a testament to faith, surrender, and the miraculous power of divine love. Through vivid recollections and deeply personal reflections, Dr. Seethalakshmi invites us into the sacred spaces of her life where the hand of Bhagawan was unmistakably present whether in moments of joy, trials, healing, or revelation. Her experiences echo the timeless truth that when one walks with the Divine, every step becomes a prayer, every challenge a lesson, and every breath a blessing.
Readers will find in these pages not only inspiration but also a gentle reminder that grace is not earned-it is received. And when received with an open heart, it has the power to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
I have been thinking of writing this book for a long time. During my time in India, I had neither the opportunity to meet Swami nor did I have a dream in which He appeared. But when I moved to the United States of America, I had to face so many challenges, and Swami was there to protect, guide, and console me. I have lived in the US for more than 30 years. My first visit to Puttaparthi was in 1985 for Swami's 60th birthday. After 1985, whenever I came to India, I used to come and stay in Parthi for a few days and go back fully charged. Swami used to come in my dreams and advise or encourage me. Whether in person or dreams, it is said that all experiences with Swami are real. This book is mostly about my life in the US and my dreams in which Swami appeared. Of course, I have also got and am still having some very significant experiences in India after I started teaching honorarily at SSSIHL, Anantapur.
I wanted to recollect all those experiences and live in the memory of our beloved Swami, who is no longer with us in His physical form. Therefore, this book is more for my benefit. I prayed to Swami for His guidance. I got his permission to write my experiences. That is the reason I decided to write my experiences.
I pray to Vighnanasha Ganesha and Mother Saraswathi to help me in this endeavor. Then, I pray to my parents, who have reached God, to bless me as they used to do when they were alive. Last but not least, I offer my salutations to all the Sadgurus and beg them for their blessings.
I had my doubts about whether my experiences were worth sharing and whether they would be of any help to others. If they can bring comfort to someone who has not seen Swami, reminding them that there is an invisible hand always ready to help and guide then I will feel that I have fulfilled my duty. In Sai Satcharita, the late Govind Raghunath Dabholkar alias Hemadpant writes, "The Sadguru is like a monsoon cloud. He pours down profusely, i.e., scatters widely his nectar-like teachings. These we should enjoy and assimilate to our heart's content and then serve others with them without any reservation. This rule should apply, not only to what he teaches in our waking state but to the visions he gives us in our dreams".
I want to emphasize that I am not a writer. As it is written in Sai Satcharita by Sri. Hemadpant, I too feel that "though, Brahmin by birth, I lack the two eyes (i.e., the sight or vision) of Shruti and Smruti, and therefore, I am also incapable of writing this book. Still, I strongly believe that the grace of the Lord can make a dumb person talk, and make a crippled person climb the mountains. With that hope and faith in my beloved Swami, I started writing this book and am now offering it at His divine lotus feet as a token of my gratitude and love.
I would also like to thank Prof. PL Rani, Director of the Anantapur Campus, for writing the foreword, in spite of her busy academic and administrative responsibilities.
I request the readers to forgive me if they find any mistakes in my writing.
