About the Author Dr. K.RAMANANDA, (B.1957) is an M.A.(Kan), M.Phil., Ph.D., Sahitya Rathna, and a scholar in Karnataka. He was the Hon. Research scholar with this Centre between 1996 and 1999. During this period he translated the 'Subhashita Samputa a prestigeous publication of the Centre into Kannada. He has compllied the present book "NECTAR OF LOVE" (a compendium of anecdotes from Gandhiji's life) as a project of the Gandhi Centre. Dr. Ramananda has many achievements to his credit. Dr. Ramananda was awarded the Ph.D., for his thesis on "CULTURAL STUDY OF INSCRIPTIONS OF VIJAYANAGARA EMPIRE-1336 A.D To 1536 A.D" (1989) by the Bangalore University. The other works written by him are "Kannada Nadu Nudi Parampare" having 'Kumaravyasa', 'Amoghavarsha Nrupathunga', Sri Krishnadevaraya', 'Immadi pulakeshi', 'King Vishnuvardhana', 'Chikkadevaraja Wodeyar', 'Pampa', 'Purandharadasa', 'Kuvempu', 'Akkamahadevi' & 'Attimabbe' in the series. Some other works include "Kannada Kavimale"; "Karnataka Ithihasada Putagalinda", "Agraharagalu" (A few are in manuscript form). Dr. Ramananda has written many critical essays, Novels, Stories and articles.

Preface Gandhi Centre of Science and Human Vatues of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is an organisation established by the endowment created by Sri Ramakrishna Bajaj-ji son of the late Sri Jamnalal Bajaj-ji who was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. This institution has the objective of spreading human, values among the youth by Publication of books, Students' interface, Lectures, Workshops and Seminars on human values and Indian contribution to Science and Philosophy. We have published sixty two books so far covering various aspects of human values and Indian science, mathematics and astronomy. The present book, "NECTAR OF LOVE" is a fruit of hard work of studying of voluminous biography of Mahatma Gandhiji -written by Sri D.G.Tendulkar. Dr. K.Ramananda who was with the Centre as a research scholar was entrusted with the study and collecting the incidents from the life of the Mahatma, which would be beacons of light for the development of the personality of the young on sound and strong bases of values and ideals. Dr. Ramananda has done a great job of selection and presentation of these anecdotes. Besides, the volumes authored by Sri D.G.Tendulkar, the professor has culled out instances from a few other sources also. As the title suggests the book is expected to be acceptable to the youth and the others alike as nectar would be to the bees. The Centre is grateful to Dr. K.Ramananda, Professor, Sindhi College, Bangalore for his devoted and sincere job accomplished. We hope that the book "NECTAR OF LOVE" will be received by the discerning readership. We are thankful to the publishers of the volumes of the biography of Gandhiji-"Mahatma" from which the anecdotes are selected and presented.
